Task Description
Starry Night is one of the most famous artworks of Vincent Van Gogh. Students learnt the life story of Van Gogh and then explored his bold painting style with oil pastels. They were encouraged to observe Van Gogh’s painting by themselves, put themselves in the artist’s mind and soul and feel what it was like to paint like Van Gogh.

Student's Reflection
Usually, I draw my characters with my own art style, but then I tried getting out of my comfort zone and trying something new. I used short lines of different colours to form a picture. I used crowded lines of different colours to form one colour (at least it looks like one colour from a distance).
Just characters and background would have been boring, so I added a tree to bring some nature into the image. In the end, I was really satisfied with how it turned out.
Teacher's Comment
Atomu learnt to see the world through Van Gogh’s eyes. He could draw the wavy short lines with heavy brushstrokes in whirling clouds, shining stars and a bright crescent moon. Instead of the peaceful village with a cypress tree, Atomu drew two little cute monsters in the grassland that gave us a relaxing and joyful feeling.
