Task Description
In the Language Arts class Clarice is reading the classic children’s book, ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’. The story is about four children who accidentally step into the magical world of Narnia and help to save it from evil.
In this class, we read about how Aslan instructed Lucy, Peter and Susan not to bring up Edmund’s error after his confession to Aslan. The class then explored the true meaning of forgiveness, and how it is a move towards restoring good relationships. This includes not keeping records of wrongs done, but moving forward from learned mistakes.
This task makes a connection between what we discussed in class to students’ daily lives. Students were to recall, and write (or make a comic strip) about, a moment when they had to make an apology that mended a relationship.

Student's Reflection
Through the story and the activities in class, I learned the meaning of forgiveness and how to apologize in the right way. One of the quotes in class really struck a chord in me. The quote says, ‘When we truly want to forgive, we should forgive and forget.’ It reminded me that we should not hold grudges when we want to forgive.
I am very proud of my work because my comic shows how my sister chose to forgive me. The apology came from the right person with the right attitude.
Teacher's Comment
Clarice showed her understanding of the story through her work. From the comic she made we can see that, although mum offered to compensate for the broken vase, Lulu was not consoled until Clarice made a sincere apology. This comic demonstrates that sometimes we do need to take responsibility for our own actions in order for the relationship to be healed and set right. Clarice was bold enough to make that apology, drew it to demonstrate her understanding and shared it with the class. Her honesty and integrity shown in this work sets a great example to her class.
