Task Description
Students investigated the presence of starch in various foods by iodine testing. They observed whether or not there was a colour change in the iodine solution and recorded the results. Using these results, they could draw a conclusion about the presence of starch in the food.
Student's work
4D (12) Boss Kong
Student's Reflection
I did an experiment by adding two drops of iodine solution to bread, chips, a lemon and a biscuit. I then observed that the food changed colour. I learned that many kinds of food have a lot of starch. I enjoyed the experiment very much when the food became blue/black in colour. It was very interesting.
Teacher's Comment
Boss did terrifically well in doing the experiment of using iodine solution. He carried out the experiment step by step. He learned how to mix the solution well and was eager to try it himself. He also asked questions about the indication of colour change. He was able to draw a conclusion about the experiment that corresponded to the aim. Well done!
