Task Description
In this topic, students learn that plants can make their own food and that this process is called, photosynthesis. They also learn that carbon dioxide and water are needed in the process, and the products are oxygen and sugars.
Introducing this process can help students better understand the importance of plants, as they help to produce oxygen that humans need. Students can then learn to help and protect the environment and cherish the wonders of nature.

Student's Reflection
I learned about the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is important to living organisms. It is the source of oxygen. Without photosynthesis, the carbon cycle could not occur, humans would not survive and plants would die. I think photosynthesis is amazing. It can provide oxygen for us. I enjoy learning about the process of photosynthesis and sharing it with my friends. I would like to learn more about more living organisms other than plants.
Teacher's Comment
Lettice showed great effort in her work in trying to understand the process of photosynthesis. She didn’t just draw the chlorophyll molecules but also coloured them in green. This showed that she paid good attention to the teacher’s explanation of the function of chlorophyll in plants. They are not just molecules that help to carry out photosynthesis in this process, but they are also green pigments that give the plants their green colour. Well done, Lettice!
