Task Description
After meeting Willy Wonka in our classic children’s book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and watching a clip from the movie, students were asked to design a new costume for Mr. Willy Wonka.
We wanted students to apply creativity to recreate the costume, based on their understanding on the character’s personality.

This is my costume for Mr. Willy Wonka. He will wear a magic hat with a red stripe on it. He also wears a blue and red cape. He wears a purple striped shirt and green, spotted trousers, which made him look very funny. He even wears a pair of shoes that looks like a pair of socks. This is the costume I designed for Mr. Willy Wonka.
Student's Reflection
This is my costume for Mr. Willy Wonka. I like his hat because it is beautiful. I learned that I can make something for other people to make them look kinder. Before that, he looked a bit creepy. I would make his cape purple if I could do it again. From this lesson, I learned to care for other people so they could be happy.
Teacher's Comment
Candice has successfully designed a new costume for Mr. Willy Wonka based on her understanding of him in the book and the movie. She created a very creative and interesting outfit, which fit his peculiar personality.
