Task Description
Daniel has been reading a famous book called ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. The book talks about a poor boy named Charlie, who wants to win one of five golden tickets to visit the factory.
In this lesson, we explored the characteristics of Charlie and discussed his caring personality. This particular lesson focused on a scene where Charlie wins the golden ticket, but he faces a dilemma about what to do with the ticket.
As an extension task, students had to describe a time when they have shown care to others and received similar emotions back from others.
Student's work
3B (28) Daniel Wong
I have had some experiences where I have shown care to someone and received care back. The first thing I did was I helped my classmate, Anson, to find his eraser, and he said thank you to me. A few days later, I forgot to bring my English books, and Anson lent his books to me to read. I felt grateful, and said thank you to him too. On a different occasion, when a classmate of mine forgot to bring his story book to read, I quickly gave him my book to read. There was another incident at my friend Moses’ home when the three of us played a game. The game just needed two people to play, so I gave my chance to play to my friend, and he let me take a few turns. We all played well, and it was a delightful afternoon. These experiences help me understand the importance of care.
Student's Reflection
In this lesson, I learned the importance of caring for others, and how it makes me feel better when I help someone in need. I liked this piece of work because I could talk about how I experienced care in my life.
If I had a chance to do this piece of writing again, I would like to share more examples of when people showed care towards me. The values that I learned in this lesson are to care for somebody who needs help. Also, it is vital to be nice to each other, so this world can become a friendly and beautiful place for us to live.
