Task Description
In the science lesson, students were presented with a variety of materials, and a set of instructions with them, to carry out an experiment. The students has to work independently during the experiment. The aim of the experiment was for students to explore the effects of surface tension, and how the presence of it helps the water droplets to form a dome shape.
Student's work
3A (28) Arianna Wong
Student's Reflection
In the experiment I counted how many water droplets a two dollar coin could hold. I learned how to use a water dropper, and I was able to focus carefully on placing the droplets onto the coin without breaking the surface tension. I really enjoyed putting the water droplets onto the coin to make a dome shape.
Teacher's Comment
Throughout the experiment, Arianna demonstrated a mature and serious attitude towards her work. Her careful and measured use of the materials -specifically the water dropper- helped her to perform the experiment with a high level of success. She was able to record her results and offer a deep scientific reasoning to explain why the water was able to form a ‘dome shape’ on the coin.
