Task Description
Butterfly Card
The students learnt how to design a butterfly. Next, they explored the wonderful world of colour with gradient colour. Gradient colour is a progression of colour within an area to be coloured. The students learnt how to blend the colours from one to another. Then the students tried to create patterns on the other side of the butterfly with the use of the design elements, such as dots, lines and shapes.
Student's work
2A (28) Ely Tsui
Student's Reflection
I learned about the artist Yayoi Kusama in P.1, who uses lots of circles to form amazing art pieces. I like the style very much. I tried to use different shapes and patterns to decorate my own butterfly, and it was gorgeous! I enjoy drawing and painting very much!
Teacher's Comment
Ely’s butterfly design is full of gaiety. She is good at drawing patterns with elements of dots, lines and shapes. She used the skills of repeating and enlarging the elements to form different combinations of the pattern. Thus, Ely tried to explore different colours matching to create gradient. The well-blended gradient colours on the back side are nice and smooth.
