Task Description
Holiday is reading the book ‘The Boy Who Cried ‘I Promise’ ‘in Language Arts class. The story is about a boy who can’t keep his promise.
In this class, we talked about how Jonah continuously wanted more things and upsetting his friends. The class explored and discussed what is more important, having more friends to play with or having more toys.
As an extension task, students had to relate this scenario to their personal experience, decide what’s essential for them: to have more friends or have more toys to play with?
Student's work
1E (18) Holiday Poon
I think having someone to play with me is more important because things cannot move, but people can talk with each other. They can share secrets and laugh together.
Student's Reflection
In this class, I learned the importance of having friends around. I liked this piece of work because I think my examples of friendship were good. I will try to think more about the character and try to write more information. I learned the value of care in this lesson, because whenever I will have a choice to choose between friends and toys, I would always choose friends.
Teacher's Comment
Holiday has done a great job of drawing a picture of her and her friend, to show how much she values friendship over having toys to play with. I loved how the picture follows a transition from when Holiday and her friend are talking to when they start playing and then see each other off. It is a true portrayal of how great it is to have the company of a close friend.
