Task Description
In Language Arts class, Casper is reading the book ‘The Boy Who Cried ‘I Promise’. The story is about a boy who can’t keep his promises.
In this class, we discussed about how Jonah shows lack of care towards his belongings i.e. toys. The class explored and discussed how they show integrity in their daily lives – by keeping their promises and taking responsibility for their actions.
This task is a consolidation of what was discussed in class. Students had to describe how do they look after their toys, and also talk about the consequences if they neglect their toys after playing.
Student's work
1D (19) Casper Lee
My favorite toy is Tokyo Lego set. I promise that I will put it on top of the cupboard after playing with it. I will not put it on the floor because it will break otherwise. I promise I will clean it every week and keep it looking like it is brand new. I promise I will put it back in the box if I do not want to play with it on that day.
Student's Reflection
I learned that I need to use complete sentences to describe my ideas. I like how I can write some funny examples in this task and share them with my classmates. I would like to include some more jokes if I get an opportunity to do this piece of work again. During the completion of this task, I learnt about integrity, care, commitment, respect and responsibility. It is because the character Jonah has no integrity and doesn’t care for others. Therefore, his classmates don’t respect him. He feels lonely and sad. I don’t want to be like Jonah.
Teacher's Comment
Casper showed an understanding of how to value and care for the things he owns. He was able to provide valid reasons behind what can happen if one doesn’t take of his toys. Well done Casper, for providing excellent examples of how you can show care towards your toys.
