Continuum of Services

Continuum of Services for 2021-22:

N.J.A.C.6A:8-3.1(a)5ii requires boards of education to provide appropriate K-12 educational services for gifted and talented students. Appropriate educational challenges begin at the kindergarten level and are ongoing. In grades K-2, students participate in the PETS (Primary Education Thinking Skills) program with the gifted and talented teacher. Performance data is collected during these lessons and becomes part of each student’s identification portfolio.

Students in grades 3-8 are formally identified as Gifted and Talented and receive at least two pull-out periods per week for the purpose of engaging in interdisciplinary curricular units of study. Additionally, the gifted and talented teacher pushes into the general education English language arts and social studies classrooms four periods each week to extend the learning for targeted students. The TAG students in grades 4-8 participate in outreach experiences that allow them to network with their academic peers.
