YPAR Academy 2022

Beloved Community’s inaugural Summer Youth Research Academy took place in-person in New Orelans, LA from June 20th to July 15th 2022. Beloved Community curated a four-week program for youth ages 14-18 in New Orleans. Through visits with guest speakers, workshops, activities and excursions, youth participants will engage with topics such as:

Learning how to tell community stories through art and storytelling
Developing research skills such as investigative interviewing and survey design
Connecting and learning from activists, government officials, and more
Exploring new ways to leverage the creative and political power of youth in New Orleans.

“I like that the class is open minded and accepting. I always felt that no one in the class would judge me based of my ideals. I am very proud to be a part of this class. Being around gifted young people is rewarding.”

What did you like best about this class?

“I loved the fact that we all weren’t afraid to respectfully disagree with each other and help each other look at things in a different light.”

“The Teacher was very great at her job and kept me hooked.”
