Ideas

my idea for shoot 1 is to photograph the many plants in my garden at home, including flowers, trees, leaves, succulents and bring my house into the background of some photos. I will play around with some depth of field and investigate close-ups of the plants.

What worked?

photographing the succulents, flowers, leaves and trees. I loved how the succulents looked and how the light from the sun showed in some of the photos.

What didn't, and how could this be improved?

the bright flowers look nice but don't really fit in the colour scheme I am going for. To improve I will stick to the lighter shades of green and pink in the plants and bring in some brown to include tree bark and dirt.

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?

Next time I will extend the idea of nature and bring in some still life of succulents, I will photograph in the style of Irving Penn.

my idea for shoot 2 is to photograph in the style of Irving Penn's still life, experimenting with succulents, dirt and different angles. Zooming in and out.

I was inspired by Irving Penn because of her still life photo which was an object with dirt on and around it. I used this idea and made a succulent still life where I put dirt on and around the succulents. I used succulents because they are relevant to my theme.

What worked?

I liked the white background, it was a good contrast to the brown dirt and succulents.

What didn't, and how could this be improved?

it was very repetitive and boring, to improve I need more still life elements to further extend the composition

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?

I will shoot in the style of Gregory Crewdson's house photogrpahs with dark lighting

my idea for shoot 3 is to photograph in the style of Gregory Crewdson's house at twilight, experimenting with zooming out and lighting.

I was inspired by Gregory Crewdson because of his house photo where he photographed a house from far away which has the interior lights on showing through the windows. I used this idea by photographing my house from a distance and turning on all the interior lights which showed through the windows.

the lights in the house coming through the windows and the different angles looked good

What didn't, and how could this be improved?

the cars on the driveway were in the way and looked ugly and some of the lighting was a bit off which could be improved with some editing

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea?

do a still life with succulents and wood experimenting with different backdrops, lighting, shadows and water droplets

my idea for shoot 4 is to photograph in the style of Ann Shelton's still life using objects and a wooden trunk.

I will create a still life with succulents bringing in white flowers, wood and black and white backdrops. I will experiment with different coloured lighting and shadows. I will also use the macro lens to get close-ups of the succulents and water droplets.
