Idea

To photograph in the style of David Emitt Adams I will take photos of rusty can lids on a white backdrop. Then in postproduction, I will photoshop my images onto the face of the can lid. I will play around with different images and different techniques of

What worked? The Photoshop of my image onto the can worked really well. 

What didn't, how could this be improved? My lighting was not the best because I was rushing it, and I ended up having to use Lightroom to lighten up the exposure. 

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? Next time I would play around with other cans and objects to put my images on.

Shoot 10

Idea

To photograph in the style of Uta Barth I will photograph power lines by trees. There is also a power line that has vines growing up the power line that I want to photograph. My aim for this shoot is to extend my ideas in board one, as it feels a bit simple, and needs a stronger beginning.

What worked? The tree with powerlines turned out quite beautiful, although not sure if this matches the theme of my board. Close-ups of the ivy-covered power line looked really nice. 

What didn't, how could this be improved?  The lighting in some of the images wasn't the best, so I had to play around with the exposure. This is due to the time of day that I shot. Next time I could either have better exposure settings or shoot at a better time of the day. The shoot looked worked well although the images it produced do not match my theme because they are too pretty. 

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? I got interested in shadows on the ground, next time I could make this more purposeful and investigate shadow work.

Shoot 11

Idea

To photograph in the style of Lewis Baltz I will photograph the old shed focusing on corners and straight on angle of walls. I will photoshop them to revert the angles, to straighten the images, as well as experimenting with black and white.

What worked? The close-up of the mossy walls worked nicely. Converting images to black and white looked more effective than colour. 

What didn't, how could this be improved? The time of day that I shot made the lighting of images overexposed, I tried to correct them by changing the exposure levels. I will fix the overexposed ones I like in Lightroom. The imagery was a little repetitive. 

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? I would look at doing photos of the inside in a similar style.

Shoot 12

Idea

To photograph in the style of Annette Messager I will drape a white sheet in the old shed and clip photos onto it, playing around with different compositions. The photos will be the same ones I used in shoot eight to link the photos. The sheet is to add to the idea of the ghost in shoot six. I will also explore putting the photos around the building.

What worked? The photos pegged on the sheet and wire worked really well. The outside images looked really nice. 

What didn't, how could this be improved? The sheet on the ground did not turn out how I wanted, the sheet looked too staged. The sheet was also quite large so it was awkward to place. 

What are you going to do next time to extend your idea? Next time I would experiment more with draping the sheet in different areas. I would also look into hanging objects n a string from the roof in the shed.
