Alan Knowles: Marti Frielander:
I like the work of both Alan Knowles and Marti Frielander because they have both strategically placed some of their photos in black and white. I like how Marti Frielander has used the slightly brther fence posts to make them stand out and draw the eye in by the contrast of the black and white. I like how Alan Knowles has used the water ribbles a nd the shadow of the bench to make his image pop. I also like how he has used the horizon line in the background of the image.
Shoot 5 evaluation:
What Worked well:
The time of day meant that the shadows were really coming through
I played with the angles more meaning that I had more options of the same photo but different angles meaning I could choose which angle worked best
I think using the studio next time may benefit me as it would mean I could get a better shadow and play with the angle the light comes from so I can get the best shadow. It also means I can play with colouration to see which colour works to get the best outcome
What didn't work as well:
I struggled to take the photos and keep my own shadow out of the shot
I also didn't leave myself enough time meaning that all my photos were rushed and I couldnt get the best out of them like i pictured them in my head to be
Shoot 6 evaluation:
I like my shoot I have done however the lighting in some of the photos came out not as I would like so I would like to reshoot using the artist model Alex Wallace to try and get better quality out of my images and extend my ideas. However I also like and enjoy the lighting in some other photos when they were taken before the fog came in.
I like how the shadows in some of the photos came out and made my images look nicer.
Charlie Ferguson:
I like the work of Charlie Ferguson because his main focus of his photographs is textures. I like how he uses the camera to zoom in close to the object so you cannot tell what the photograph is of but you can really see the textures involved in the object. You can really see all the details that are involved in the object. This is a good photoshoot for me to do to break up my board and get a range of different photos on my board.
Shoot 7 evaluation:
I really enjoyed doing this shoot and was happy with how it turned out by focusing on textures and still life within my dads work space. I liked how I was also able to use the fact that it was getting dark and so I was able to play with the lighting of my images a little bit when taking them. I enjoyed being able to have a better look into the use of textures and being able to use different angles to try get the most out of each of my images.
I struggled with getting my camera to focus on the objects when I was playing with the depth of field. I also struggled with my photos coming out blurry from my hand shacking when I was using my zoom, in the end I had to use my mum for me to balance my hand on when taking photos.
Artist Models:
Lewis Baltz:
Laurence Aberhart:
I like the work of Lewis Baltz and Laurence Aberhart because it focuses on the architecture of the farm and it is a new and different thing for me. I like how Laurence Aberhart uses the landscape aswell to furthere draw your eye into the image. I also notice and like how they have both placed their images in black and white and make the contrast really present meaning that the black and whites really stand out.
My shoot 8 also involves a small amount of a re shoot of the Jerry Takigawa. This time I ensured that I used the photos in different ways and used different items to place on top of my images so it was more obvious use of my artist model. I was much happier with how this shoot turned out compared to my first attempt.
Shoot 8 evaluation:
I really enjoyed being able to shoot something different. I really like how the woolshed images turend out ann really think I utilised my artist models well in this shoot as it is more obvious that an artist model had been used. I really like how I was able to use a tripod to ensure that the camera was held still and that my images cam out nice and clear.
I was also very pleased with how the re shoot of my Jerry Takigawa went as I feel like the images represent my theme more and it is much more obvious that an artist model had been used. I feel as if I have used a range of different ideas in this shoot and feel that the images will fit well on my board.
