IHSSA LG STATE CONTEST

WELCOME to WDM Valley! We are so honored and excited to host you for our 2026 IHSSA LG State Contest! 

Throughout this site you'll find important and helpful information for performers, coaches, judges, and guests. Take a look around, but if you can't find what you're looking for, please email Sam Melz, contest manager. 

Thank you for supporting our contest through cash donations at the door (suggested $5) and eating at the school throughout the day. 

Important Information for All! 

• Our address is 3650 Woodland Ave., West Des Moines, 50266

• Our school's main entrance is on the North side near our bus concourse. The main entrance, west entrance and our PAC entrance will be open. 

• The athletic entrance will be open in the morning for bus drop-off and unloading. Only schools should use this entrance. 

• Please know your school code before arriving, school names will not be used on any information. We recommend leaving school apparel at home.

• Ratings will be posted here on the website and on large boards outside the library. 

• We will have a nurse on site, first aid will be available in the library. 

• Volunteers - please check in at the counseling offices, across from the library. 

• Have questions or need help? Find a volunteer in a bright orange shirt and they will be able to assist you! 

• Eat here! We'll have food available to purchase (cash or card) throughout the day, including breakfast and lunch. This is a great fundraising opportunity and we appreciate all the support for our speech program! 

• Please keep all food and drink in the cafeteria. 

• Contest falls on the first Saturday of the month. In West Des Moines, tornado sirens will be tested at noon. THIS IS JUST A TEST. 

• VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL IS LATEX-FREE. LATEX IS NOT ALLOWED ON PREMISE. This includes balloons, rubberbands, and duct tape. If you see something that may contain latex please alert the Contest Manager.
