How do I become a member?

Psi Chi is an invitation only honor society. That said, we have our requirements on full display in the Requirements page. If you have questions about these, please don't hesitate to contact us! Each semester, an invitation to apply email is sent to potentially eligible students to formally apply to join Psi Chi if they have met all of the requirements. The WCU Psi Chi Instagram will announce when the invitation email has been sent out each semester, so that you can verify whether you received one or not. If you believe you meet the requirements but haven't received an invitation, please contact the Faculty Advisor(s) directly.

Is there a cost to become a member?

Yes, Psi Chi has a one-time lifetime membership fee. The Psi Chi National lifetime membership fees are $65 and the WCU Chapter of Psi Chi local dues are $10, for a total cost of $75. You will be directed to pay your dues after your eligibility has been confirmed through the application process, before finalizing your membership.

Psi Chi remains committed to providing meaningful opportunities and lifelong benefits to members while working to ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of recognition or participation. Financial assistance is often available to support students who could not otherwise afford to join. Please contact the Faculty Advisor(s) directly during the application process to request a fee waiver if this applies to you.

Do I get honor cords at graduation?

Yes! The Chapter will provide each member with honor cords to wear during graduation, at no cost to you! We keep an updated list of all our graduating members, so once your commencement date approaches, we will reach out to you with information about where and when you can pick up your honor cord. If you are graduating soon, please pay special attention to our Chapter emails. 

I transferred schools or became a graduate student, do I need to reapply?

No, Psi Chi membership is a lifetime membership! If you'd like to transfer your membership to WCU, just contact the Faculty Advisor(s) directly and they'll direct you to the form you need and make sure you are added to the members list.

What are the perks of joining?

The WCU Chapter of Psi Chi takes pride in its student leadership, and being an active member offers many opportunities to gain leadership skills and customize your Psi Chi experience. This includes building relationships with other students across campus and with faculty outside the classroom, as well as having a voice in which types of events would benefit YOU.
