Co-curricular Activities and Opportunities

Woodstock High School offers an array of opportunities for students outside of the classroom. A vast majority of students participate in sports, theater, music and clubs. In fact, there is something for just about anyone here at Woodstock. Over half of our students participate in our thriving sports programs. The theater program is renowned for its first class productions and the music department is spearheaded by an excellent and energetic instructor who creates new opportunities every year to reflect trends in music and music production. There are over twenty-five clubs and around 75% of Woodstock students are a member of one or more of these clubs. Clubs range from ones focused on environmental and social issues, to language clubs and clubs such as bass fishing and mountain biking. You can see a complete list of clubs and sports in our course guide. All students are encouraged to take advantage of any opportunity afforded them at Woodstock. It is a great way to learn about our Vermont culture and to meet many new friends.

We are also proud of our Innovation Lab, the center of our STEM program. The lab offers a multi-modal experience and features a working space for design and collaboration. In partnership with NuVu The Innovation School, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass, the Woodstock campus offers work space to students to design and implement their ideas. Students are coached by an enthusiastic instructor, an engineer and graduate of Cornell and Harvard. The lab is also home to inter-disciplinary projects. As an example of one such project, students in Spanish V mapped out such topics as the indigenous languages of Spanish speaking America, the pathways of immigration, the location of the los desaparecidos, victims of the Argentinian Dictatorship, whose reign of terror accounts for the disappearance of thousands of Argentinians. Collaboration such as this is frequent and offers students a deeper learning environment.
