Digital Illustration
DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 ½ credit (T) (Not Offered Every Year: Offered 2025-26)
Not recommended for students enrolling in ski schools
Students will develop their drawing skills using a computer and iPad (materials provided by the school). Students will produce and be assessed on many projects, including creating original drawings, logos, and flyers that develop and demonstrate an understanding of the elements and principles of design. Students will design and craft effective personal and promotional pieces, publications, and digital art. In addition, students gain foundational knowledge of the processes behind commercial printing operations. The curriculum enables students to develop their creative abilities for making art (studio), interpreting and evaluating visual images (art criticism), and raising questions about the nature of art (aesthetics). Digital Illustration is a course that will cover various processes, techniques, and information. Digital Illustration encourages students to express their creativity and participate in divergent thinking and creative problem-solving.
This course is also available for ½ technology credit.
STUDENT DESIGN CONTESTS
Digital Illustration students collaborate with the local community oftentimes via design contests of logos, trail markers, posters, and more. Although it is optional to submit your work for the contest, several students have chosen to enter their work and have won! More information is below. Students are an active part in influencing what their community looks like.

Humanae
Is a photographic work in progress by artist Angelica Dass documenting humanity’s true colors rather than the false labels “white,” “red,” “black,” and “yellow” associated with race. She believes that what defines human beings is their inescapable uniqueness and, therefore, diversity.
The background for each portrait is tinted with a color tone identical to a sample pixel taken from the nose of the subject.
