Allison Read

Our Media Specialist, Mrs. Allison Read, graduated from the school formerly know as NGCSU (now NGU) in 2006 with a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. While teaching second and fourth grades for six years, she found her passion in reading aloud to students and delivering collaborative instructional technology lessons. She completed her Master's degree in Instructional Technology/Library Media from Georgia Southern University and spent four years as a media specialist in Hall County. Convinced she'd stumbled upon the best job in the world, she went on to receive her Educational Specialist degree in Instructional Technology through Valdosta University. She has been serving as Media Specialist at Pleasant Grove since 2016. 

Mrs. Read and her husband, Benjamin, moved to Dalton, Georgia when he received an opportunity to join a chiropractic practice there.  She has two young children, Luke (4) and Violet (2). She enjoys traveling, playing video games, and reading! She has visited Hawaii, Japan, and Italy, but can't wait to visit many more parts of the world. Her favorite books include The Tale of Despereaux, Wonder, This is Not My Hat, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Martina the Beautiful Cockroach, Sign of the Beaver, and so many more!
