In fall of 2015, the Northwest Georgia College & Career Academy (NWGCCA) formed Team 5900 "The Fighting Mongooses" as part of strategic efforts to prepare a skilled workforce for advanced manufacturing employers in the Greater Dalton area.
FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC) is part of the Advanced Manufacturing & Business Academy that has been developed by the NWGCCA in partnership with area manufacturers to develop skilled individuals in the areas of Manufacturing, Logistics, and Corporate Administration. FRC provides real-world technical & soft-skills, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and innovation skills that will greatly benefit area employers and the community. In addition to FRC, the Advanced Manufacturing & Business Academy also provides students with opportunities to participate in a paid apprenticeship while in high school that is based on the Swiss apprenticeship model.
Kell Robotics (Team 1311) conducted demo sessions at NWGCCA in fall 2015 to educate our students on FRC. These demo sessions sparked interest and shortly after the first meetings were held to form the team. We appreciate the help and support provided by Kell Robotics at the beginning of our journey.
