Binary Code Name Necklaces
Binary Code Name Necklaces are a fun way to learn code. Binary code represents text or other data using a two-symbol system. For this project, you will need a piece of string long enough for a necklace and 3 different color beads. Have Fun!
Step 1: Binary code for each letter
Write out the binary code for each letter of your name. Count the total number of "0"s and "1"s you have. Count the number of spacers you will need. Before the first letter and between each letter. For example, I have one before the "M" in my last name and between each letter. I also wanted one at the end of my name for a total of 6 spacers
Step 2: Pick out your Beads
You will need 3 different color beads, one for the "0"s, one for the "1"s, and one for the spacers.
Step3: Thread the Beads onto a string
Start with a bead that you are using as a spacer, next thread beads on the string using color beads that correspond to the binary code of the letters of your name. Finish with a spacer. Tie a knot in the string and enjoy your new necklace!
