Benefits of Mindfulness for Kids and Teens:
In my mindful workshops and camps, we do a bunch of coping strategies, activities, and projects to incorporate mindfulness into daily life. Here are a few things to try at home:
Paint mindful rocks and leave them in the community for others to find
Make a vision board with pictures, quotes, and magazines
Make your own stress relieving tool (ex. Glitter jar, pipe cleaner fidget, or balloon stress ball)
Take a nature walk and comment on 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste
Start a daily gratitude journal
Encourage something new (A new order at your favorite restaurant, a new recipe, a new exercise)
Try out some stretching techniques
Set a timer on your phone to remind you to take 3 deep breaths everyday
Write a "just because" card to someone and leave it for them to find (ex. gratitude, thank you, apology, I love you)
