I have been conducting Book Talk projects with my Dual Enrollment English 12 students since the spring of 2019. With the help of my school librarian and techie teacher bff, I select an overarching theme for the project. Past themes have included YA dystopian lit, "Othering," and fantasy. Within each theme, I create at least four subcategories. These subcategories are how students are divided into interest groups after completing a thematic interest form (to create a copy of the form used in 2021, click here).

In the 2021-2022 school year, I decided to try a new approach to my project by selecting nonfiction as our overarching theme and by hosting a literary food truck festival with my students.
