Service Hours

All NJHS Members are required to complete 10 hours of Community Service over the Summer.

Hold an egg hunt for school kids
Host a book party for kids in your neighborhood
Help walk kids home from school
Host an after-school program
Coach a youth sports team
Start up a pen pal program for kids
Teach kids a valuable life skill
Volunteer at a youth shelter
Become a field trip chaperone
Donate used books to a children’s library
Knit caps or scarfs for babies or children
Help build a playground for disabled children
Donate your used electronics to a school
Start a coat drive
Help teach a child to read
Offer tutoring services
Take a child Christmas shopping
Become a field trip chaperone
Donate baby clothes and supplies
Teach a child how to play an instrument
Become a teen counselor
Create a summer reading program
Join a group like Big Brothers, Big Sisters
Donate stuffed animals to kids in hospitals
Do demonstrations about health and exercise at schools
Organize a safe Halloween outing for kids in your neighborhood
Participate in a charity walk or run
Volunteer at a local nonprofit
Organize a clothing drive
Participate in a national giving or remembrance day
Ask for charitable donations instead of birthday or Christmas gifts
Host a fundraising event and donate the money
Teach classes for a skill you have
Clean up your local park or playground
Plant trees, flowers, or other plants
Volunteer at your local library
Repair broken household items or appliances for neighbors
Write and send letters to soldiers and veterans
Adopt a stretch of highway and clean it regularly
