Classroom Rules and Keys to Success:
1. Be Respectful.
o Profanity and/or disrespect will not be tolerated. Keep the classroom safe. No one should fear asking or answering a question in the class.
o Do not pack up until the teacher says you may do so. Stay in your seat until the bell rings.
o Keep the area on and around your desk clean.
o If you disagree with my approach, philosophy, your personal grade, etc. let’s discuss it, BUT not during instructional time. See me when it is independent practice, before or after school, or schedule some other time
2. Be Prepared.
o Be on time.
o Come to class ready to learn.
o Make sure you have submitted your homework and do not wait for instructional time to do that
o Complete the bell work or behavioral health activity as soon as the bell rings.
3. Be Positive.
o Believe that you can do it and you will.
o Be willing to TRY!
o I am here to help you succeed. I am not here trying to make you fail.
4. Be Responsible.
o Keep up with materials and complete ALL class work and homework.
o Stay organized.
o Let me know when you are having trouble and get extra help when needed. Never be afraid to ask
o Complete ALL class work and homework.
5. Be Honest.
o Look at the Honor Code Policy.
o Make good choices. Consequences of cheating are quite severe.
o Using an electronic device that is not specifically allowed during a quiz or test is cheating.
o All phones will be placed in the front of the room during all quizzes and tests. Having a phone in your possession during a quiz or test will result in a zero. Laptops / Chromebooks need to be put away during quizzes and tests.
o Copying another student’s homework or allowing someone to copy your homework is cheating!
o Appropriate work must be shown on all assignments, including tests, to receive credit. Spend your time actually learning the material instead of trying to find ways to cheat.
o Understand that the purpose of homework and classwork is to help identify where you lack understanding and refine skills so you will be successful on assessments.
6. Follow all school rules including:
o 15/15 - No student is allowed to leave the classroom within the first/last 15 minutes of class. Try to go to the restroom before class. If you must go during class, try to wait until instructional time is complete and we are not in the 15/15 window.
o No use of electronics except for educational purposes especially during direct instruction. No phones out. No earbuds in.
Class Expectations:
· Students should expect to get homework and/or classwork daily. While it may be possible that it is completed during instruction, often students will need to complete the assignment for the next day. Homework and classwork are assigned to give students the opportunity to practice and gain mastery of skills taught in the unit. Some of these assignments will be completed online while others will be submitted electronically such as a scan of their handwritten work or video of them explaining their work. If not being completed online in another application, the submission will occur on Canvas.
· Students should check Canvas DAILY for updated assignments.
· Assessments will typically be timed. I expect students to show integrity throughout this course on all assignments – copying another person’s work and/or copying solutions from websites or applications is considered falsifying your work and cheating. If that is in question, students may be asked to complete an alternative assignment to demonstrate mastery.
