For grades 9-10, our general education classroom teachers teach advanced curriculum to prepare students for their Early College courses through differentiated instruction within the classroom.
For grades 11-12, students take the Early College courses through Shaw University. The AIG teacher also supports teachers at WYWLA by collaborating with them on a weekly and/or monthly basis to give them ideas on how they can incorporate differentiation strategies within their classrooms.
Students have an opportunity to test out of some high school classes, if they can show mastery of course content, through a 2 phase testing process. At WYWLW, students may take a CDM assessment in either English I, English II, Math 1, Math 2, or Math 3, Biology, or Spanish.
For access to more information about CDM and the Application and Agreement Form, please click HERE. The window to submit a request for your child to take a CDM test runs from September 22nd through November 14th. The Phase 1 test will be adminstered during the week of December 15th. If students pass the Phase 1 assessment, they can move forward and take the Phase 2 assessment. This test will be adminstered in February.
