Biography:
My name is Derrick Bridges and I was born & raised in Raleigh, NC. This is my 10th year teaching and previously worked at Hoke County High School located in Raeford, NC right outside of Fayetteville. During my tenure, I served as Head Athletic Trainer and Teacher in the Health & PE Department. I have been a Licensed & Certified Athletic Trainer for 13 years. I have worked various sports such as Semi-Professional Women's Basketball, Professional Men's Frisbee, Professional Rugby, amongst others. In my current role, I am the Head Athletic Trainer for all Willow Spring HS Athletics and excited to teach your child this semester about the profession of Athletic Training.

These courses provides a general overview of Sports Medicine and its history from the perspective of the healthcare community that includes injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, emergency injury management, psychosocial and administrative functions. While sports medicine requires memorization of bones, muscles, ligaments, and movements, the knowledge gained will prove to be useful as it is applied to real world encounters in athletics and physical education programs. Students will have opportunity to learn about injury evaluation of upper and lower extremities as well as taping and bracing for said injuries suffered in athletics.
