Common World Language Course Policies

CHEATING & PLAGIARISM IN WORLD LANGUAGE COURSES

The following are considered cheating in a World Language course and will not be tolerated:

  • use of any online translator

  • copying work/assignments from another student

  • having a native/more proficient French speaker give unapproved assistance on an assignment

  • use of any unauthorized device during an assessment

  • exchange of answers/information between students on any individual assessment

  • plagiarism from ANY source (print, electronic, individual, etc.)

*IF TRANSLATOR USE IS SUSPECTED : If translator use is suspected, the teacher will immediately stop grading the assignment and the student will receive a 0 in Powerschool. The student will need to speak with the teacher for an alternate assignment, which will be penalized in the following manner:

  • Level 1 (minor) offense: 10% deduction; conversation with teacher, contact with parents

  • Level 2 (major) offense: maximum grade 70%; contact with parents

  • Level 3 (major, repeated) offense: maximum grade 50%; contact with parents

GRADING SCALES IN WORLD LANGUAGE COURSES

Levels 1-4

  • Minor Assessments 50%

  • Major Assessments 50%
