The Director

A little about Mrs. Martel:

I graduated from East Carolina University in 2010 with my Bachelor’s Degree in music education. I began my teaching career at S. W. Snowden Elementary in Aurora, NC where I taught general music and band. I later moved to Falkland Elementary outside of Greenville where I taught general music and elementary strings.

In 2015, I started teaching at Wake Forest Charter Academy. During my time at WFCA, I taught K-8 general music, band, choir, ukulele ensemble, and percussion ensemble. I also completed my Master’s Degree in music education at ECU in 2017.  

In addition to my public school teaching experience, I have been involved in several marching bands and percussion ensembles throughout eastern North Carolina. I have experience teaching all levels of music, from kindergarten to collegiate. I strive to hold myself and my students to a high level of musicianship and professionalism at all times.

I currently live in Youngsville with my husband, who is also a music educator, my five year old son Benjamin (who is starting Kindie this year), and my 15 month old Josephine, who are both aspiring musicians.
