April is National Poetry Month

What is Poetry ? 

  expression        emotion        words          rhythm         rhyme scheme          active word play        words invoking a given emotion             

How is poetry written? 

lines          sharp imagery         sound focused           commonly tie in the senses        a variety of types/formats           

Why write poetry? 

it's therapeutic               a form of sharing your VOICE                it's a way to take a stand/send a message 

 

  National Library Week 

Right to READ Day ~ Monday, April 24th

Monday, April 24  will be the one year anniversary of the launch for "Unite Against Book Bans" campaign.  In an effort to fight back censorship in a day of action from "sea to shining sea", we are calling all book lovers, library lovers, learners of all kinds to defend, protect and celebrate our right to read freely and join us in Right to Read Day

This same day the American Library Association will unveil its list of Top 10 Most Challenged Books of 2022. According to the data, last year there were record breaking challenges made to books to be removed from school and public libraries. The list will convey what types of books are being challenged most often and why.
