Our students at STEM have the academic content knowledge and capability to succeed at the most rigorous Universities and Colleges and in the most intellectually challenging career fields. However, this content knowledge is not enough for them to be successful. Our students need academic readiness behaviors and skills to successfully navigate these college and career opportunities that lie before them.
We will ensure that we define what behaviors and skills are most important, specifically teach them to students in a way that builds on what they know as they progress through our program, and encourages them to take ownership over mastering these skills and behaviors.
College and Career Readiness Skills/Behaviors
This document will capture the College and Career Readiness skills and behaviors our students need to have when they leave Wake STEM ECHS. It is aligned with ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors and the CASEL SEL Framework. You can see this alignment in our Crosswalk Document.
Staff will review the College and Career Readiness Skills/Behaviors document with each student at the beginning and end of the year. Students will set goals based on where they perceive themselves to be with mastery of these readiness skills and behaviors.
Career and College Readiness Goal Setting Form
Specific lessons will be taught by each grade level to students based on the College and Career Readiness Skills/Behaviors document.
