Step 5: With a highlighter or pen, identify and label the type of figurative language being used. Is it a simile? Is it a metaphor? Is it personification?
Step 6: Circle a selection of lyrics in your chosen song that you particularly enjoy. You could pick your favorite verse, the chorus, or any complete thought or idea. Write why you enjoy this section, what type of figurative language you discovered, and what clues indicate that.
Step 7: The theme is the main idea or the message of the song. At the bottom of your lyrics, choose a theme and provide evidence from the song that supports this theme.
