Mrs. Sojka

Welcome to 4th Grade! I am very excited to begin the new school year with you. It is sure to be unlike any other.

My name is Lauren Maloney Sojka and this will be my 15th year in education. The 2021-2022 school year will mark my eighth year teaching 4th grade at TCE. The Triangle has been my home for over 25 years. I grew up in Cary and earned my bachelor's degree from UNC-Chapel Hill. In 2006, I began my career as a 3rd grade teacher at a magnet school in Durham. In 2008, I started teaching 3rd grade at Turner Creek.

I really enjoy the year round model. In the past, I used my track outs to travel. I've visited friends in NYC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Charleston, and Wilmington. I took great family trips to Disney World, Hawaii, and Italy. In recent years, I have used my track outs to spend quality time with my family. Speaking of family, my husband Stephen and I were married in 2012. He is a New England sports fan and is both a UVA and UNC grad.

2016 was a big year for me. In the spring of 2016, I earned my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from NCSU. Later that year, I welcomed my first child, Lily! In March 2019, my son, Luke, was born. I stayed at home with Luke and Lily during the 2019-2020 school year.
