In STEM Honors English IV, we will approach the study of literature through the Pillars of Sustainability: endurance; society, economy, and ecology; equity; and practicality. Additionally, we will read with our magnet theme of Medical and Health Sciences as a frame for understanding. These modern-day perspectives will allow us to delve into novels, plays, short stories, essays, and poetry to ask how the writing of the past applies to the world in which we live today. Through our exploration of various selections of literature, we will also study vocabulary, grammar, and composition in an effort to consider the effect our own words have on the world around us.
To prepare for college and professional fields, we will further develop our skills in the areas of critical thinking, close reading, precise writing, note-taking, and communication. Students will complete a research paper as part of the STEM Capstone Project.
