Math Highlights- Students will have a test on Monday focused on partitioning shapes into halves, third, and fourths. They are expected to divide shapes in multiple ways. We will then begin a unit on shapes. Students will need to explain the attributes of shapes and be able to sort them based on their characteristics. We are also completing the second grade summative assessment, which tests them on all of the concepts we have covered.
Science - Students witnessed the life cycle of the butterfly and we released them into nature. We discovered our butterflies are painted-lady butterflies. The students have worked so hard to research and further understand the life cycles of animals. Ask them to tell you about the butterfly life cycle.
Letterland Highlights- We will study unit 40 this week, which features the sixth and final syllable type, candle -le. They will learn that it is never the only syllable or the first syllable either. Our tricky words are: ocean and noticed. Ask your child if they can identify what is tricky about the word.
