All about Miss Roman

My name is Maggie Roman.   My last name is French.   So instead of saying it the way it looks... you actually pronounce the "n" sound as an "r".   So it should sound like "Romar".   

This will be my fifteenth year teaching!  This will be my sixth year teaching fifth grade at Sycamore Creek.  I taught fourth grade for six years at Sycamore Creek.  I started my teaching career at Barwell Renaissance Elementary School where I taught third grade for three years.  I absolutely love teaching and could not imagine myself doing anything else!  It is truly my passion! 

I was born in Greensboro, North Carolina but moved around a lot as a child.  I have lived in West Bend, Wisconsin and Fishers, Indiana.  Raleigh has been home to me since seventh grade.  I graduated from Leesville High School in 2005 and knew since second grade I wanted to be a teacher.  Because of that, I attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and graduated in 2009 with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Math.  Right after graduation, I decided that I wanted to further my education and I stayed at ECU to pursue my Masters.  I graduated in December 2010 with my Masters in Elementary Education and did research involving the benefits of the SMART board in the classroom.  Our class will be doing many fun projects this year involving technology! 

My hobbies are working out, shopping, drinking coffee and playing with my dog Frankie!  My dad and I run half marathons together and hope to add a marathon to my list!  I LOVE the Carolina Hurricanes and wish I attended more games!  Let's Go Canes!
