This 4th Grade Unit focuses on the following standards:

MUSICAL LITERACY

4.ML.1.1 Apply expressive qualities when playing a varied repertoire of music representing genres and styles from diverse cultures.

4.ML.1.3 Use instruments to execute melodic movement through pentatonic melodies on the treble clef.

4.ML.2.1 Interpret rhythm patterns including whole, half, dotted half, quarter, and eighth notes.

4.ML.2.2 Interpret music through instruments simple pitch notation in the treble clef.

4.ML.2.3 Use standard symbols to notate rhythm, meter, and dynamics in simple patterns. 

Below are the different songs/levels/belts that can be earned.  

They are earned, or a student is proficient, when the musician is successful in playing the song!

#1 White Belt-Using the letters B, A, and G

#2 Yellow Belt-Focus on skips and breath control with B, A, G

#3 Orange Belt-Working on speed and accuracy with B, A, and G

#4 Green Belt-Adding the right hand to play the letter E (first line on the staff)

#5 Purple Belt-Adding the letter D which is the note below the staff

#6 Blue Belt-Adding the high C and the high D

#7 Black Belt-Final belt to test knowledge of C, B, A, G, E, D
