Meet The    Music Teacher

My name is Emily Stanton and I have had the privilege of teaching music for 20 years in Wake County, North Carolina. I currently teach at Sanford Creek Elementary School. I live in Rolesville with my husband, two children, and one bad dog! We love to be outside whether we are bike riding, hiking, or gardening.  I also love to read historical fiction and, oh yes, singing too!!

My love of music dates back as far as I can remember. I began taking piano lessons at 6 years old. I grew up in church and began singing in the children's choir in 2nd grade. In 3rd grade, I started playing the violin in orchestra at school. I landed my first role in a school musical when I was in 4th grade.

I continued to be extremely involved with music in Chorus and drama in high school. I went to college at Truman State University and graduated in 2000 and again with my Masters Degree in 2003. I have the best job in the world because I not only teach the fundamentals of music but help students to view life thru a wider lens in order to see that music connects us all! I currently hold my National Board Teaching Certification in music.
