Pottery & Sculpture (7/8 grade) provides learning experiences in art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics. Students continue to explore the elements and principles of design through the lens of creating three-dimensional artwork. Various materials are explored and problem-solving are at the core of each project. The class will concentrate on the pinch, coil, and slab ceramic techniques along with exploring a variety of materials such as wire, wood, paper, paper mache, and found objects to create three-dimensional forms.
Students learn to understand and experience the design process while acquiring the skills, knowledge, and discipline needed to transform their ideas into realized products. These are valuable 21st century skills.
