Exploring Art (6th grade) has been designed to provide a variety of learning experiences involving the visual arts. Areas of study will include: art production, art history, art criticism and aesthetics. Projects are chosen to engage students' creativity and to familiarize them with the Elements and Principles of Art. The project activities emphasize skills and techniques in drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, pottery/ceramics, and sculpture.
Projects are designed to build upon one another so the students will be able to use prior knowledge contributing to success. The visual art assignments in Exploring Art are designed to increase students’ critical and creative thinking skills as well as an understanding of the history and production of art.
