Tuesday, August 27th.
Students are to wait in the Auditorium until 7AM. First period begins promptly at 7:30AM. Students should be in their classrooms and in their seats at this time. Any student that arrives after 7:30AM is required to be escorted to the Main Office with an adult to check them in tardy.
This is the current Bell Schedule for the 2023-2024 School Year. Click to enlarge the picture. There are 7 class periods during the day (including FLEX) as well as lunch. FLEX is when students receive remediation, acceleration, or small-group teacher or peer assistance. SEL stands for Social and Emotional Learning where students will be completing lessons from the Second Step program.

Yes, there are two. The first one is the WCPSS Student Handbook which contains all the rules and procedures that students are expected to follow within the district. More information about district policies, as well as Spanish versions of the Student Handbook can be found here. The second one is specific to West Cary, which can also be found here.
All students must re-register for a bus route (even if you have registered in the past). For all transportation questions, please visit the link here for Bus Routes, Registration, the Here Comes the Bus app, and more.
Students are graded based on skill-based performance on a 10-point scale as show below.
A: 100-90
B: 89-80
C: 79-70
D: 69-60
F: Below 60
We will be using the Illustrative Mathematics Open-Up Resources Curriculum this year. More information can be found under the "Math 6" and "Math 6+" tabs above or on their website here.
We offer two different 6th Grade courses.
Math 6 is the standard track that covers all of the required North Carolina State Standards for 6th Grade Math. There are 8 units in total for the year.
Math 6 PLUS or Math 6+ includes everything in Math 6 as well as half of the NC State Standards for 7th Grade Math. There are 12 units in total for the year. It is a rigorous and fast-paced course.
At the end of the year, ALL 6th Grade students will take the 6th Grade Math EOG regardless of the math course they are enrolled in.

No, WCPSS does not offer tutoring at this time.
Yes, I will happily accept donations of pencils, tissue boxes, hand sanitizer, clorox wipes, and dry erase markers as these are high need items.
