Q: Does RCMMS offer any clubs?
A: RCMMS has several clubs that our students created and our staff members are always happy to sponsor a club. Here is a list of some of the clubs we have offered in previous years and our students are always welcome to share their club ideas with an administrator!
Q: Will my student need their cell phone?
A: Since every student has their own Chromebook, we encourage students to leave their cell phones at home. If for some reason a student needs to bring their cell phone with them to school, we ask that their phone stays in their locker or in their book bag.
Q: Will my student receive a locker?
A: Yes! Every 6th grader receives a locker (optional) during Camp Creek.
Q: What is the best way to communicate with teachers?
A: Talking Points is the quickest and easiest way to communicate with any teacher at RCMMS. We encourage all of our families to download the Talking Points app so that they receive updates and messages as soon as a teacher sends one out. You can find more information regarding TalkingPoints here.
Q: What can I do to help my student be successful in middle school?
A: Families should check PowerSchool frequently, they should ask their student to show them their Canvas page, and since every student has an agenda, it is important that you check to see if they are using it to stay organized. If your student does fall behind, or if you have a question/concern, it is important that you let a teacher, administrator, or counselor know as soon as possible so we can support you and your student.
Q: Do students have more work in middle school?
A: In middle school, there is an increase in the amount of work students are expected to do, but our students have class time and time during WINGS to complete their assignments. We try our best to limit the amount of homework that is assigned, but in classes like ELA and Math, students will have practice problems or a small amount of reading to do.
Q: Is anything in place to help my student transition to middle school?
A: Absolutely! Every year, our incoming 6th graders participate in Camp Creek during the first 7 days of the school year where they tour the school, learn about their classes, meet new classmates, and learn strategies that will help them be successful in middle school. Camp Creek is always a ton of fun and our 6th graders build a strong foundation that they can build off of all year.
Q: Is RCMMS on Twitter?
A: Yes! You can follow us @reedycreekms to stay up-to-date on everything going on at The Creek! We tweet out important updates and other relevant information that you need to know throughout the year.
Q: Where can I find the bell schedule and yearly calendar?
A: Click here to view the bell schedules and calendar.
Q: Can 6th graders participate in athletics?
A: Unfortunately, no, but we strongly encourage any student who is interested in a sport to volunteer to be a manager so they are still a part of the team and can learn more about the sport.
Q: I have a question that is not answered on this website, what should I do?
A: Please fill out this Google Form and Mr. Warren, our 8th grade AP, will be in touch with you shortly.
