Meet your ELA teachers

MS. McDermott

Even though I grew up in Missouri and went to high school and college in Arizona, I've been happily settled in the RTP area for 22 years.  I love reading, cooking, sci-fi and superheroes, and spending time with my 17 year old daughter, 13 year old son, and our three cats, Leo, Cricket, and Henry.  This is my seventh year at Reedy Creek and my sixth year in the 6th grade.

Mrs. James

I am a lifelong North Carolinian. I was born in Raleigh and even graduated from Cary High School like many of you will! I am an NCSU graduate and Wolfpack fan. I enjoy reading and listening to music and podcasts. In addition to teaching ELA, I am the Academically/Intellectually Gifted teacher at Reedy Creek.

MS. Hawthorne

I am a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Secondary English Education. Additionally, I received my Special Education licensing in 2007. This is my seventh year teaching at RCMMS. I adore my two daughters (grades 6 and 10) as well as my kitties: Coca-Cola (3), Belle (3), Maple (1), Cappuccino & Mocha (3 months)!  I love coffee, cats, the mountains, and teaching!
