Parent Emails

Week of September 3rd:

Good afternoon,

We have successfully completed two weeks of school! Please check PowerSchools every week so that you know the current grade. We have taken our first test and our next one is next Friday.

There is a meet the teacher night next Thursday evening. The google meet link is: https://meet.google.com/cyj-ifug-chh. Please use your student's sign in.

If you have ANY questions, please ask!

Looking forward to a good school year!

Ms. Shannon

Week of September 24th:

Good morning,

Today I gave each of your students an interim report. Please look at it to see what their current grade is if you do not have access to PowerSchools. They are still able to turn in missing work. Most of your students are not asking me for help as I walk around the classroom. Just a few of them will ask questions. Please encourage them to seek help when they are confused. I do have office hours after school on Wednesday and Thursday. I usually can stay some on Tuesday as well if I don't have a meeting. (Mondays I always have a meeting.) The best time to ask for help, though, is during class. They have plenty of time to get help on their classwork during the period.

There are also extra videos in each unit for extra help on the material. Please make sure the students are watching those if their grade is low.

Thank you for your support in helping your student succeed!

Week of October 29th:

Good afternoon!

We are into Quarter 2 already and many students are starting to slack off. There were many low test grades last test and their lack of asking for help, playing on their phone/computers or just not working is starting to affect their grade. Please talk with your student about good work habits and to ask for help when they are confused.

Next week, we have a teacher workday on Tuesday and Parent Conference night on Thursday night. Please reach out if you would like to meet on Thursday night (5:30-8:00 pm). There are only 10 slots available. It is helpful to have the student on the Google Meet so we can all be on the same page.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Week of December 10th:

Good morning!

As we are winding up the school year (and real year), please keep an eye on your student's grade. We have 2 more weeks of school before exams. Students need to be turning in missing work and coming for help if they are confused (office hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 - 3:30). We are in the last unit of our curriculum. There will be one more test (next Friday 12/17) before we break for the holidays. After break, we will be reviewing for exams. The score your student receives on the exam will be entered in PowerSchool this year. They CAN receive a zero if they do not take the exam and their exam grade CAN be lower than their average and bring down their grade. Please encourage your student to study this year. Two years of not worrying about exams has formed misconceptions!

I have updated the grades with the latest test and make up work, so if you see zeros, your student needs to make up that assignment.

Week of January 3rd:

Good morning!

As we wrap up this semester, please make note of the following important information:

All make up work is due by WEDNESDAY, January 5th. This includes tests, classwork, homework.

Final Exam for Python will be ONLY multiple choice questions. This test will count for 20% of your student's grade.

Students may leave after their exam is done if they don't have another exam later in the day. Please have your student bring this form signed on exam day if they are leaving after the first period exam.

Here is the exam schedule. Our first period exam for this class is WEDNESDAY, January 12 from 7:25 - 10:25. Students must stay in the room until 10:25. They cannot be checked out earlier than that.

Thank you for encouraging your student to finish strong for this semester!
