🎙️ What is the Podcast Challenge?
The Podcast Challenge is a hands on experience that will prepare you to plan, record, edit, and publish podcast episodes. It can be experienced by staff members and students synchronously or asynchronously. The content and experience will equip you to walk your students through the process of producing a podcast. During the session you will work as a crew and each crew members will have a job with several responsibilities. We will use free and approved resources to record, edit, and publish the podcast episode your crew produces. Bring a fully charged device and be prepared to collaborate with others to complete The Podcast Challenge.
🤔 What Will We Learn in This Course?
You will learn everything you need in order to prepare a podcast episode, record an episode, edit your bumpers and episode, publish your podcast, and distribute it to your target audience.
💻 Course Design & Procedures
This course is designed using a blended learning model. The course can be taken synchronously in a three hour session or completed asynchronously at your own pace. in First, you will watch a video, read some text, and then review resources. Then you will be give time to practice using what was taught and learned. Finally, you will then demonstrate that you have mastered the content and objectives by completing a mastery check. After successful completion, you can then move onto the next lesson the mastery check. Once you complete all of the lessons and modules, you will be given your CEU credits.
🏆 Goals & Reason for Taking This Course
This course is for designed to help anyone that would like to begin podcasting. Below are the set of skills you will need to show mastery of in order to complete this course. The first number is the skill number and the second number is the lesson number.
Must Do - By the end of this course you should have named your podcast show, identified the anatomy of your podcast, planned one podcast episode for your podcast show, recorded your episode, edited your episode, and then you should publish and distribute your podcast episode to your target audience.
Should Do - Plan out your first season of podcasts. Use the Podcast Season spreadsheet to plan your record and post dates, brainstorm topics for your episodes, note any guests you may have, and begin preparing to record your next episode.
1.1Create a name for your podcast, write a description explaining what your podcast is about
2.1 Identify target audience, your purpose, and goals for podcasting
3.1 Create artwork for your podcast that identifies your podcast and communicates an idea of what your podcast is about
4.2 Collaborate with others to draft a script or talking points for a podcast episode
5.3 Create a teacher Scratch account and add your students
6.3 Record audio for your podcast using Scratch
7.3 Utilize all of the editing features Scratch offers to prepare your podcast for publishing
8.3 Create a teacher Canva account and add your students
9.3 Create a bumper for your podcast using Canva’s video editor
10.4 Publish and share your podcast with your target audience
11.4 Schedule several episodes for your first season
