Here are some projects that show what we have been up to at Partnership!
Language Arts
Math
Students are reading lots of poetry in 4th grade! We are discussing the central message of poems, learning new vocabulary and writing our own poems!
Students are extending their learning from class. They are calculating volume of bigger rectangular prisms and will explore volume of cylinders.
Fifth grade students are reading The Lions of Little Rock. The novel is about Little Rock, Arkansas in 1958 where painfully shy twelve-year-old Marlee sees her city and family divided over school integration, but her friendship with Liz, a new student, helps her find her voice and fight against racism.
Area and Perimeter Obstacle Course!! Fourth grade students are creating a 3D obstacle course. They will plan it and calculate the area/perimeter. Then they get to create the 3D model.
Our working definition of social action is revisited frequently as we are now writing TED Talks. Each student selected an issue or topic that they wanted to teach about. Students are working to craft a talk that inspires a change in behavior-- whether that is acting in a different way to protect the planet or resources, exploring new topics, or taking up a new skill!
Students explore algebraic reasoning by solving with physical manipulatives, visual representations, and eventually expressions with variables!
