2026 - Single Subject Acceleration
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is an acceleration opportunity provided for enrolled and attending Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) students. As outlined in Board Policy 3422, K-8th grade students who meet specific criteria in Mathematics or English Language Arts (ELA) have the opportunity to accelerate in one subject area.
What are your goals for having your child tested for SSA? It is important to distinguish between a student who is smart and learns quickly and does well on tests versus a student who has innate content knowledge and the ability to master a whole grade level of a subject without the need of a tutor or study material.
SSA Testing is usually in the Winter or Spring of the school year. Dr. Gilkes and teachers will share the Parent SSA Request Window when WCPSS post the testing dates for the new school year.
