TESTING
BOG - August 9, 2023
The BOG (Beginning of Grade) test is a reading test that will measure the growth your child makes throughout this school year. By Law, all 3rd grade students should be reading on a 3rd grade level by the end of 3rd grade. This test is an End Of Grade 3rd grade reading test. An average student will not "pass" this test at the beginning of the year, I have not taught them the reading skills yet. The magic passing number is 540, and 10 points is an average growth number from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.
When you hear "Good Cause Exemption", this is pertaining to the law that all 3rd graders will read on a 3rd grade level. One way to get this good cause exemption is by scoring a 540 on the BOG or the EOG.
