Activities fall under 4 main categories (remediation, academic study hall, quiet room or connection opportunities). Students should practice planning their week and consider their personal and academic needs in doing so. Big test coming up? Take advantage of an academic study hall or quiet room. Feeling drained and need to reconnect? Sign up for an Uno Tournament or meditation to increase your focus during other times of the day.
Remediation provides a teacher-led, small-group setting for students to increase proficiency in specific skills. These lessons may include re-teaching from previous units or pre-teaching to better prepare to students for success in an unpcoming unit.
Academic Study Hall's are offered by content area teachers to support students in independent work. Students may be completing missing work, preparing for an upcoming assessment or otherwise working on course assignments.
Quiet Rooms are classrooms open to students looking for a space appropriate for independent work. This could be school-related work or other personal interest areas such as sketching, reading a favorite novel series or creative writing.
Connection Opportunities can range from recreational activities such as basketball to Honor Society meetings or Board Game tournaments.
